energy efficiency

Guest Rooms
  • Key Card Activation: Electricity in guest rooms (lights, fans, extractor fans) is controlled via key cards, ensuring energy is used only when rooms are occupied.
  • Efficient AC Control: Air conditioning systems integrate with door contacts and are monitored by a Building Management System (BMS) to minimize waste.
  • Motion-Sensor Lighting: Bathroom night lights and extractor fans activate only when needed, reducing unnecessary energy use.
  • Ceiling Fans as an Alternative: All guest rooms are equipped with ceiling fans to minimize air conditioning use.
  • Temperature Regulation: Air conditioning units are set at a minimum temperature of 23°C to prevent excessive energy consumption.
Public Areas
  • External Lighting Control: Outdoor lighting is equipped with timers and motion sensors for optimized energy use.
  • Public Bathroom Lighting: Motion sensors ensure lights remain off when bathrooms are unoccupied.
  • LED Lighting: 100% of lighting across the property is energy-efficient LED, except for heat lamps in the restaurant.
  • Natural Ventilation: Fans and natural ventilation replace air conditioning in restaurants, the gym, and common areas.
Renewable Energy Initiatives
  • Solar Power: A 100KW photovoltaic (PV) solar system supplements power from PUC, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Energy-Efficient Appliances: All appliances used within the property are energy-star rated for optimal efficiency.
  • Alternative Water Heating: A heat pump system provides energy-efficient hot water across the property.
  • Greenhouse Gas Tracking: We utilize the Marriott Environmental Sustainability Hub (MESH) to document and track emissions.

water conservation

Efficient Usage
  • Aerators in Taps: Installed in all guest room and public area taps to reduce water consumption without impacting functionality.
  • Urinal Motion Sensors: Installed in public toilets to control and minimize water usage.
  • Low-Flow Toilets & Showers: More than 50% of our toilets and urinals have low-flow systems installed, with a target to expand this.
  • Towel & Linen Reuse Program: Guests are encouraged to reuse towels and linens, reducing water and detergent use.
Recycling & Reuse
  • Treated Wastewater Usage: Our sewage treatment plant processes up to 75m³ per day, repurposing treated water for landscaping.
  • Rainwater Harvesting: Collected rainwater is used for garden irrigation, minimizing reliance on municipal sources.
  • Automated Irrigation System: A water pump system efficiently manages landscaping irrigation, reducing manual labor and waste.
