explore
laïla exists to be the antidote to resorts that close themselves off from their surroundings. Our expeditions blur the boundaries between hotel and village, visitor and local, by offering the chance for unforgettable exploration. It is true immersion in the activities, environments and people who make the Seychelles such a truly special place.
our islands
We encourage all our guests to venture out into the island – the qualities that make laïla so special cannot be contained in a ‘gated resort’, which is why you will find no gates or fences separating laïla from its local village; its jungle; its oceanside. We also recognise that exploration can take many forms and mean different things to different people, so whether you’re setting off with one of our Takamara rum bottles in hand or a freshly cracked coconut water, we always make sure that the trips we facilitate are wide-ranging and diverse. What unites them all is how far they feel from the typical resort ‘excursion’: these are authentic immersions in true island life.
jaunts
Our jaunts take you out of laïla for half a day or so, giving you the chance to explore different facets of the island across a period of time that is more manageable but no less immersive. Expect to explore the capital or the village market, embark on a fishing trip or even hike through the jungle.
expeditions
Our expeditions offer a more substantial Seychellois experience for guests. Each trip is crafted by local experts and guides for the most luxuriously adventurous, authentically realised exploration of our neighbouring islands and oceans.
our hotel
The activity that bursts forth from the island spills into the hotel itself, with a range of activities to be enjoyed without having to leave laïla. Far from a closing off to the outside world though, each activity draws on the Seychellois spirit to conjure something captivating for all ages. Whether that’s sunrise yoga or nighttime stargazing, making jewellery using foraged shells or cooking fish you’ve caught with locals over an open fire.
kids recreation
Our kid’s area is tailored to the tiniest adventurers on the island (and even those little ones looking for less adventurous activities). It’s a haven filled with fun for kids of all ages – so the adults can explore the island, knowing it will be all-smiles and new friends upon their return.
water sports
The crystalline water around laïla provide more than just the perfect backdrop to rest and relaxation – sometimes you have no choice but to jump right in. When those moments do take you, we’re on hand with kayaks and paddle boards, to ensure you everything you need to explore the waters in the best way possible.
Anse royale - village life
laïla could not exist without an embrace of village life, and we aim to offer all guests the chance to drink in that same vibrant culture, throughout their stay with us. From Creole cooking classes and traditional weaving demonstrations to evenings spent around the bonfire dancing to Moutya music: the experiences are as authentic as they are enjoyable.
community and sustainability
Our presence on the island is one that comes with real responsibility, and we frequently speak to guests who are increasingy aware of the impact that tourism – when not done the right way – can have on local communities and ecosystems.
We have a number of initiatives underway to ensure that our impact on our surroundings are as wholly positive as possible, and we’re delighted when those staying with us express an interest in playing a part in that. If you’d like to take part in our sustainability activities while staying with us, just speak to a member of staff. There’s no pressure to commit to any more than you want to, we work to make it an enriching experience for all involved.
